PURPOSE:  To re-design and build SDUK’s website, improve content, build digital profile and stakeholder databases

The post-holder will work on a self-employed basis within a timeframe agreed by SDUK. It is not necessarily the case that the appointed candidate will have knowledge of both the design and maintenance of websites AND integrating multi-faceted databases. Applications also welcome from job shares/teams and agencies to cover both aspects. Where a suitable web designer is found without database experience, SDUK will seek experienced database personnel, and the two will work in collaboration.

• Experience of Brand engagement and building stakeholder relationships by improving digital profile
• An existing portfolio within digital communications
• Design and aesthetic flair
• Online payment handling knowledge

• Knowledge of building and maintaining multi-functional databases
• Knowledge of the UK arts industry
• Knowledge of SDUK and stage directors’ issues

• Evaluate existing website and SDUK ‘Brand’, including aspects of design and presentation
• Liaise with SDUK personnel to evaluate current content, and initiate new content
• Archive existing website in a readily accessible format
• Build a new website, ensuring functionality across multiple platforms and for equality of access
• Build in backup and restore functionality
• Solve technical issues when they arise, includingmalware detection and prevention
• Integrate and improve current membership application and subscription payment system
• Design, implement, and maintain solutions for storing, managing and exposing digital content
• Engineer Google rankings/analytics, directing traffic to the site
• Handover day-to-day management and maintenance of the new website to SDUK staff

PHASE 2: DATABASE DESIGN & INTEGRATION (may run concurrent with the above)
•Evaluate and archive existing SDUK databases and mailing lists
• Liaise with SDUK personnel to design a solution incorporating existing lists, ideally integrating them with the website platform
• Handover day-to-day management and maintenance of the new database to SDUK staff

• Working with SDUK staff and volunteers to keep website current and relevant to developing trends
• Ensuring software and security updates are completed
• Assisting staff with troubleshooting and ongoing support
• Adding/updating payment plans to membership subs options
• Identifying relevant demographic data about visitors and usage

This role may be done from any location, but the successful post holder will be required to attend planning and design meetings with SDUK in central London (Skype meetings also possible, though face-to-face time will be necessary at key points). There will be a requirement to attend an SDUK Board meeting to present the proposed website and database to the Board.
